Speaking Engagements

Sometimes colleges ask me to come speak to their graduate students or faculty. I love such invitations because they allow me to help more people see how rewarding (and fun) it can be to take teaching seriously.

This past fall, I had the pleasure of working with faculty and graduate students at the University of Connecticut. They were nice enough to send me some testimonials from participants:

“David Gooblar's presentation was fun, interactive, and — most importantly — meaningful. He facilitated discussion with us about academic gatekeeping, and then we all collaborated to come up with ways to fight for equity in our classrooms. I left the event energized to reevaluate my teaching and continue the conversation with others.“

“That David’s conversation about how teachers teach in the college classroom was standing room only speaks to not only his engaging and sympathetic persona, but also highlights how crucial this conversation is; in the face of higher education’s changing demographics and infrastructure, David Gooblar introduces crucial pedagogical discussions between faculty, graduate students, and administrators.”

“It was so refreshing to see someone committed to revitalizing pedagogy in higher ed. This workshop was participatory, enlightening, and energizing, and I still think about it often as I prepare for classes.”
